Dept. of Family and Children Services - Georgia School for the Deaf - Annual Reports
Scope and Contents
This school was created by the Act of December 16, 1847 for the purpose of providing a public school education for citizens of the State who are so physically and mentally handicapped as to be unable to obtain such an education in the regular public schools. These published reports are brief and provide information relating to the activities the staff engaged in for the previous fiscal year. These annual reports consist of reports from the principal of the school, the assistant principal, the arts and crafts department, the ear, eye, nose and throat specialist and the treasurer. There is also a section titled General Information and a list of the name and residence of each student. There is very little information contained in these reports, and what there is consists primarily of the nature of instruction offered, qualifications of teachers, and needed improvements in the buildings.
