Scope and Contents

The Act of February 1, 1946 authorized the State Board of Health to promulgate rules and regulations for the protection of the health and lives of patients housed in hospitals, infirmaries, maternity and nursing homes. The Act also authorized the creation of a Hospital Advisory Council, authorized the State Board of Health to license all hospitals, infirmaries and similar institutions and authorized the Advisory Council to create rules and regulations necessary to enforce the purposes of the act. The Act of March 13, 1957 created the Hospital Care Council whose duties were to adopt rules, regulations and standards necessary to assure adequate medical attention for the indigent housed in housed in hospitals, infirmaries, nursing homes and similar institutions. The Act of March 17, 1960 abolished the Hospital Advisory Committee and the Hospital Care Council and transferred their property, powers and duties to the Hospital Advisory Council for Construction, Licensure and Indigent Care, an agency created by this act.
