This series consists of bound annual reports of the officers of the Western & Atlantic Railroad to the Superintendent and that officer's major summaries of those reports. The reports contain a textual narrative followed by accounting and statistical reports. The information generally includes commentary about the physical condition of the: roadbed, culverts, bridging, cross-ties, wood and water supply, rails, locomotives and rolling stock, relations with connecting railroads, and the need of capital for improvements. The records also include an implicit thread on the public and political policies of the incumbent Governor to whom the Superintendent reported.
