Transportation - Highway Division - Seaboard Air Line Railroad Crossings Photographs
Scope and Contents
This series is an album of photographs of bridge and on grade crossings of State highways and tracks of the Seaboard Air Line Railroad (now the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad). The album is not dated but the pictures seem to have been taken in the late 1930’s. The pictures were taken by the office of the Bridge Engineer. Usually there are four views of each crossing: one from each direction. Not all crossings of the Seaboard tracks over State highways are included. Included are crossings in or near the following cities: Cuthbert, Americus, Atlanta, Decatur, Dallas, Rockmart, Lawrenceville, Athens, Smithsonia (spelled Smithsonan), Coney (spelled Connie), Soperton, Rochelle, Savannah and Everett. There are 112 photographs. Each picture is identified by location and by direction of the view. All are black and white glossy prints. Most are 7 x 11.6 cm. in size but some are 6.5 x 9 cm.
