Scope and Contents

This series consists of a bound specification and order book used by the Superintendent acting as purchasing agent for the railroad. The volume lists: the type, number, quality, cost, and source of supplies, hardware or goods. A typical entry reads' "One (1) dozen Spittoons No. 3 $17.00 black, by express C.O.D to", p. 95. Some of the goods, especially capital equipment, appears to be for the purpose of replacing materials and equipment lost or damaged during the Civil War.
