Legislature - State Programs Study Commission - Administrative Records
Scope and Contents
These general administrative records include: copies of bills and resolutions referred to the committee; transcripts of hearings before the committee; correspondence; reports; studies prepared by the committee and others; charts and other statistical data; newspaper clippings; reference materials including some publications. Of particular interest are the in-depth analysis of county statutes in Georgia and the wealth of material on the committee review of Governor Jimmy Carter's reorganization plan of the period 1970-72. Included in the latter are many transcripts of hearings on the plan, objections voiced by constitutional officers and others to the plan, and what must constitute almost a complete documentation of the reorganization controversy in the newspapers. Other subjects dealt with by the committee documented in this series include legislative reapportionment, public education, budgetary and other money matters, and personnel problems.
