Scope and Contents
This series documents the supervision and control of the State-wide Minerals Survey Project. It includes survey-related correspondence of Robert C. Beckstorn, State Project Supervisor, and Peyton Garland, Director, Department of Mines, Mining and Geology, and mineral location summaries. Also included are Minutes of the Georgia State WPA Advisory Council, 1940-1941, which cover the entire range of WPA projects in Georgia. In addition, the series contains the correspondence of Peyton Garland regarding efforts to relate the Minerals Survey to the national defense effort (1941-1942).
