Scope and Contents
The volumes cover 1912 - 1929. They contain: (1) requisitions for payment of pensions; (2) letters refunding money to the State Treasury and corresponding receipts; (3) statements of fees due ordinaries; (4) memoranda concerning amounts due for payments of pensions by counties; (5) memoranda concerning amounts of funeral expenses paid; (6) annual reports to the governor on the status of the Pension Office, (7) orders to strike names from the pension rolls; (8) interpretations of the pension laws, (9) sundry other related records. Other copies of some of these items are to be found in other series. The loose records for 1958 - 1981 contain records of payments to widows filed by county; records of payments to widows who lived in the A.G. Rhodes Confederate Soldiers' Home, 1963 - 1973; copies of Confederate widow's pension files; miscellaneous administrative files such as correspondence relating to widow pensioners, laws and regulations, requisitions for payments, newspaper clippings, etc.
