Scope and Contents
This series contains two types of self-study reports. The first consists of the self-study reports submitted by individual elementary schools in the Fulton County school system for the 1966-67 school year. The second consists of system wide self study reports on elementary and sometimes schools of all levels. These bound reports average about 175 pages in length and are compiled to determine, at least in part, accreditation of the schools by the Georgia Accrediting Commission and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
The self-study reports for individual elementary schools include: (1) a description of the school community (2) a description of the children served including distribution by grade, I.Q., achievement test scores, health, language use, etc. (3) purposes (4) program (5) personnel (6) facilities including classrooms, library, physical education, instructional aids, supplies, lunchroom and maintenance services (7) school - community interaction (8) coordination (9) summary and followup plans, including strengths, needed improvements, and short and long range programs, both approved and subject to approval by the school board. The system wide self studies for the years 1962 - 1968, though not a complete set, include: (1) a list of members of the Board of Education (2) organization of the committee making the study including (3) forward (4) a brief description of the school community (5) a description of the children served (6) purposes (7) program (8) personnel (9) facilities (10) school - community interaction (11) coordination (12) summary and followup.
