Scope and Contents
All functions and related duties of the Notary Public Division of the GA Secretary of State were transferred to the Superior Court Clerks' Cooperative Authority by Senate Bill 184, 1997. This bill amended OCGA 47 - 17 - 1, and became effective July 1, 1997. Volumes 1 thru 6 in this series consist of printed certificates showing the Governor's commission to the petitioner as a Notary Public and ex officio Justice of the Peace. These documents bear: (1) the name of the Notary Public (2) his county of residence; (3) district number, and (4) date of commission. Volumes 7-9 consist of ledger books in which is recorded: (1) the name of the Notary Public; (2) his county of residence; (3) post office address; (4) the names of two endorsers, and (5) date of commission.

In volumes 1 through 6, the entries appear to be chronologically arranged with indexes arranged alphabetically by surname. Volumes 7 through 9 contains ledger entries that are arranged alphabetically by surname and then chronologically.
1919 through 1962 are available on microfilm in the Reference Room. Microfilm drawer 58, boxes 1 through 61.
