Corrections - Offender Rehabilitation - Central Register of Convicts
Scope and Contents
This series consists of bound registers containing a listing of all persons convicted of felonies or misdemeanors in the State of Georgia. These ledgers were created after Governor Jimmy Carter's Reorganization of State Government, hence the different record group from those ledgers found in RGSGSERIES 21-3-27, Georgia Board of Corrections.
These ledgers have columns for:
(1) convict's name
(2) assigned file number
(3) crime committed
(4) county where convicted
(5) minimum and maximum sentence
(6) remarks
(7) date received for confinement
(8) physical description when received
(9) date of escape and recapture
(10) location of detention
(11) disposition and date
Unfortunately, most of these later volumes contain information only in (1), (2), (4) and (10).
Code lettering of the registers is as follows: A=felony, M=misdemeanor, FM=Fulton County misdemeanor, GM=Georgia misdemeanor, and D=felony.
