Scope and Contents
Thls series contains correspondence, biographical sketches of Urban Mass Transit Authority officials, committee records, complaints, guidelines, budget records, news releases, minutes of staff and other meetings, publications, reports, resolutions, rosters of minority contractors, copies of speeches, records concerning transit systems in other cities and other records. These records document the vital coordination of efforts between the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority and the federal Department of Transportation and, perhaps more importantly, the Urban Mass Transit Authority (UMTA). It is the particular responsibility of the Division to ensure that all Authority documents are in compliance with the myriad of federal regulations and procedures. A large proportion of the financial resources of the transit system hangs In the balance.
