Scope and Contents

This series contains documents relating to Georgia's land lotteries including copies of treaties in which land was ceded to the state, copies of the acts of the General Assembly authorizing a lottery be held to distribute the land, proclamations by governors, and instructions to surveyors. Correspondence between the Governor, Surveyor General, district surveyors, and citizens comprise a large portion of the material.
