This series contains documents relating to Georgia's land lotteries including copies of treaties in which land was ceded to the state, copies of the acts of the General Assembly authorizing a lottery be held to distribute the land, proclamations by governors, and instructions to surveyors. Correspondence between the Governor, Surveyor General, district surveyors, and citizens comprise a large portion of the material.

This volume contains instructions from the Surveyor General to the district and county line surveyors. It includes details of procedures to be followed in surveying; copies of circulars and correspondence from the Surveyor General in relation to surveying the land lottery portions of the state; oaths of surveyors; and a list of surveyors elected in 1831 to survey the northwestern portion of the state in preparation for the 1832 lotteries.
