Scope and Contents
This series consists of recorded grants issued by the provincial and state governors of the Colony and State of Georgia for lands primarily east of the Oconee River. Grants act as the initial title to public lands as issued to individuals upon petition, warrant, and survey of the land. Recorded in the grant is the name of the grantee, the county or parish in which the land was situated, a description of the land, the number of acres, and the date of the grant.
