Governor - State Budget Bureau - Budget Requests for All Agencies
Scope and Contents
The State Budget Bureau was established by law in 1931 and consisted of the governor, the state auditor, and the attorney general. This series contains early budget requests made by all state agencies to the budget bureau. Earlier records includes a cover letter to the governor enclosing an estimated budget for the coming fiscal year and analysis of expenditures for the past 5 year and 10 year periods. Later records are bound and generally include a spreadsheet of all agencies' requests, proposed appropriations and expenditures. The agencies are assigned a symbol number and are then listed in numerical order with their "Maintenance Only" costs followed by an "Explanation Page" which might be followed by a "Supplementary Information Page" to explain budget requests.
