Scope and Contents
Writ dockets contain legal orders issued by the court commanding the person to whom they are directed to perform or refrain from performing a certain act. This series is composed of a single bound volume containing such orders associated with civil complaints filed in court. Information presented in these volumes includes: (1) name of litigants; (2) date petition for writ to be issued was filed in office; (3) type of charge complained of; (4) orders (writs) to specified county officials (such as Sheriff) to remedy such complaints; (5) judgments of court rendered, and (6) exhibits and other supporting papers. Some of the charges brought forward include those of libel for divorce, mortgage foreclosures and collections of promissory notes.
