Scope and Contents
The General Administrative Records of the State Superintendent of Schools include correspondence, certifications, committee and conference reports, directives, briefs, statements and other papers. These records relate to the overall administration of the Department and its organizational subdivisions, and include such papers as:
(1) Correspondence between the Superintendent and the heads of organizational subdivisions and educational associations, (2) reports, both narrative and statistical, on meetings, conventions, legislation and on educational institutions, (3) correspondence concerning teacher certification.
The records also relate to the Superintendent's and the Department's: (1) concern for all matters relating to the education of the citizens of the state, (2) participation in both local and national professional education societies, (3) liaison with the federal government in the development of legislation for and programs of education, (4) participation with other agencies of state governĀment in matters relating to general governmental services.

Alphabetical by Subject. There are many exceptions, however, including considerable date over-lapping. Records after 1964 are arranged in two sections: departmental, which are arranged by administrative unit and external, which are arranged alphabetically by subject.
