Under procedures used by the Department of Education, each Office is responsible for maintaining the background and supporting documents that are associated with the monthly Board of Education meetings and their minutes. This series consists of those documents for items submitted to the Board by the Office of Special Services. The papers consist of: (1) recommendations to the Associate Superintendent for Administrative Services of items to be brought before the Board (2) agenda of items approved for submission to the Board (3)copies of minutes of the Board showing the Board's actions regarding these items (4) memos, reports and other papers serving as background information on proposals, or sometimes showing steps taken to implement Board actions The types of items brought by the Office of Administrative Services include recommendations that the Board approve: (1) proposed budgets submitted by local boards of education (2) proposed capital outlay priorities of local school systems (3) proposals for changes in official departmental policies, rules, standards and specifications (4) proposed expenditures for equipment and supplies for the Office of Administrative Services (5) transfers of funds from the Governor's Emergency Fund (6) personnel actions (promotions, appointments, etc.) for the Office (7) proposed appointments to advisory committees Also included are reports of advisory committees.
