This series consists of computer printouts of Report SS 550‑01 "School Plant Information Request" issued to local school principals by the Statistical Services Section of the Department of Education's Office of Special Services. The reports, which document statistical data on facilities at all local school systems and schools, contain information listed in two sections: Section 1 contains statistics on the buildings and units of that particular school or system. Information listed includes: (1) number of acres in school site (2) buildings and units in use (by year)(3) instructional units available (4) special service rooms available Section 2 contains information on the facilities such as: (1) carpeting and heating/cooling supply (2) water supply (3) wastes disposal Being of a statistical nature, a specific knowledge of the contents of these files must be employed for correct interpretation. It is the function of the Statistical Services Section to design, install, and maintain systems for the collection, analysis, reporting and publication of educational data in order to insure research and development within the framework of overall educational strategy.
