Scope and Contents
This series consists of original and photocopies of memorandum prepared by Division Directors and other staff of the Office of Vocational Education for multiple distribution to local education authorities. Topics in the memos relate to (not an inclusive list): (1) scheduling Off-Campus Coordinators' Conference; (2) special technical skills training program for automotive teachers and vocational ed workshops for counselors regarding expanding career opportunities; (3) management information services to assist the participants in secondary schools handicapped programs; (4) management information procedures for the "Quick Start" industrial training program; (5) survey questionnaires on conversion of certain state technical schools, teacher certification, non-instructional staffing needs, etc.; (6) staff development and effects of budget cuts by the Governor on programs; (7) public hearings implemented to discuss the FY 1984 Annual Comprehensive State Plan for Vocational Education; (8) notification of Agent Orange legislation passed by the General Assembly in 1982 and Vocational Education's intention to identify Vietnam veterans in school systems who may have been exposed to Agent Orange; with Office of Civil Rights Guidelines for Vocational Education (1979); (10) student job placement, college placement; (11) consumer education; (9) notice of intention to monitor school system for compliance. The Office of Vocational Education is responsible for providing executive management and leadership for the state vocational education program. It is also responsible for the development, execution and maintenance for the state plan for vocational education and for assisting the 187 school system and 24 area vocational technical institutions in providing effective vocational education programs that meet the needs of local communities throughout Georgia. This series offers good insight into the variety of meetings and workshops the local school authorities attended in compliance with management's responsibilities.
