Legislature - Legislative Counsel - Constitutional Amendments
Scope and Contents
This series consists of brief synopses of all the local amendments to the Georgia Constitutions of 1877, 1945, and 1976 which were officially proclaimed by the Governor as having been duly ratified. As one of a variety of reference, counseling, and legislative drafting services provided to members of the General Assembly, the Office of the Legislative Counsel compiled these summaries. The Counsel's staff obtained the information from an examination of each of the Governor's executive proclamations issued subsequent to the general elections from 1877 until 1980 and from Georgia laws. Each abstract cites the particular jurisdiction affected by the amendment; gives the article, section, and paragraph of the constitution which has been amended; describes the purpose of the amendment; and lists the date of ratification.
