Scope and Contents

This series consists of unbound fragments of correspondence of the U.S. Army occupation forces in Georgia after the Civil War. The documents relate principally to reports of federally regulated elections held in several Georgia towns during Reconstruction and financial reports as of November 30, 1865, on the Western and Atlantic's indebtedness and purchases from the United States government.

Scope and Contents This series consists of a bound account book of expenses and assessments collected for an eating mess, composed partially at least, of officials of the Western & Atlantic. The volume is composed of three accounts- expenses, contributions or borrowing of items "for board" and assessments. The expense account includes: date, item (such as 13 pounds of ham or 1 bushel of collard greens), unit cost, total cost, and wages for a negro woman cook. Scope and Contents This series consists of three letters written on the back side of freight report forms contained in RG 18/7/59, VOL1-2898, General Freight Agent, Freight Report Summary Book (1850).
