This series consists of bound volumes of the minutes of the City Council of Milledgeville and documents the decisions and the business transactions the Mayor and City Council considered during the inclusive dates listed. Among the subjects discussed were regulation of street traffic and public drunkenness, the creation of a Fire Department and Board of Health and the regulation of the sale of intoxicating liquors.

This series is composed of miscellaneous unbound records from the City of Milledgeville. The types of records found in this series include fliers, telegrams, receipts, cancelled checks, promissory notes, minutes of City Council meetings, bonds and copies of ordinances.

These bound volumes document the payments made by the City Clerk for services rendered to the City of Milledgeville and for the purchase of goods. The information contained in these records includes: (1) name of the recipient; (2) amount of money involved in transaction; (3) specifications for the purpose of transaction, and (4) date of payment. Promissory notes, bills of lading and other related documents are also included.

These bound volumes document the names of the persons buried in the City Cemetery for the dates listed. Information found in the volumes includes the following: (1) name, age, sex, and color of deceased; (2) name of disease the deceased expired of; (3) nativity of the deceased, and (4) place and date of death.

These bound volumes contain lists of the registered voters for the time period listed.

This series is composed of bound ledgers which document the accounts of the County Treasurer of Baldwin County for the dates listed. Information presented includes: (1) name of person County Treasurer received money from; (2) date of receipt; (3) amount of money involved, and (4) purpose of receipt. Information can be found on pages 2 thru 103.

This series consists of unbound records documenting the names of the white insolvent taxpayers of Baldwin County for the date listed. Information found in these records includes: (1) names of insolvent taxpayers; (2) the Georgia Militia District number each lived in, and (3) the amount of tax they owed.

This series consists of bound volumes whose information documents the various animals that had strayed away from their owners and who had been brought to court for identification by claimants. Information found in these volumes includes: (1) type of animal; (2) name of claimant; (3) a description of animal; (4) the date the animal came before the court; (5) disposition of the animal and amount sold for, and (6) enumeration of court fees.

This series consists of a bound volume documenting civil cases appearing before the Probate Court of Baldwin County. Most of these cases deal with debts and assumpsits. Information includes: (1) names of the litigants; (2) the issue involved in each case; (3) the term of court in which each case appeared; (4) the names of the justices and jurors who heard the cases, and (5) the judgment rendered.

Appearance dockets contain the names of defendants who are asked to appear in court. The volumes comprising this series document the civil complaints appearing before the court and the judgment resulting from such complaints. Information presented in these records includes: (1) names of litigants involved; (2) term of court; (3) type of case involved, and (4) judgment of court rendered.

The "Baldwin Blues" was first organized in 1848 as a Georgia Militia Company. The bound volume comprising this series documents the receipts and disbursements to what apparently were the officers and enlisted men of that militia company for the dates listed. Information includes: (1) name of officer or enlisted man; (2) date of transaction, and (3) enumeration of amount involved.

These dockets document all uncontested cases heard before the court. Among those included are petitions to sell land, applications to be appointed administrators of an estate and applications for letters of guardianship. Information in these volumes includes: (1) name of applicant; (2) nature of case; (3) date of application, and (4) judgment rendered.

This series contains original unbound papers which formed portions of civil and criminal case files involving, but not limited to: (1) bail bonds; (2) misdemeanors; (3) debts; (4) fi fas; (5) attachments, and (6) assumpsits.

This series consists of a bound volume whose information documents expenditures by the clerk for expenses incurred by Baldwin County and for money received in the form of taxes and similar receipts. Information in this volume includes the name of the individual involved in the transaction and the nature of the transaction.

Execution dockets document civil complaints appearing before the Inferior Court involving financial matters and the judgments resulting from such complaints. The information each volume provides includes the following: (1) names of litigants; (2) principal and interest involved; (3) costs for Clerk, Sheriff, and fi fa; (4) term of court; (5) defendant's attorney; (6) judgment rendered, and (7) case number.

This series contains bound volumes of liquor retailers oath books that contain the oaths taken by merchants who were licensed to sell liquor and distilled spirits in which they swore not to sell intoxicating beverages to any slaves or free persons of color without the written or verbal consent of the owner, overseer or employer of such slaves or free persons of color. After the Civil War in 1865, the oath was changed to exclude the sale to minors (white or colored) under 16 years of age.

This series is composed of miscellaneous unbound marriage records. The types of records found in this series include lists of names of men and women that could be an index to a marriage book, affidavits, statistics, notes and marriage licenses.

This series is comprised of fifteen (15) sheets of microfiche containing an index to the Southern Recorder Newspaper.

This series is composed of miscellaneous records from Baldwin County. The type of records found in this series includes receipts, affidavits, letters, fliers, cancelled checks and similar material.

Motion dockets document cases which are decided by the judge without intervention of a jury. Information found in this docket includes: (1) date and term of court; (2) names of attorneys involved in the case; (3) names of litigants; (4) case number, and (5) judgement rendered.

The Constitution of 1798 conferred on the Probate Court jurisdiction and control over county affairs. This bound volume documents the titles of books the probate judge of Baldwin County distributed to other county officers of that county. Most of these books are copies of bound Georgia Laws and similar official publications. Information presented in this volume includes the date of distribution, the name of the recipient (and sometimes the name of his office) and the title of the volume.

The records comprising this series provide documentation of the names and related information of the livestock dealers of Baldwin County for the dates listed. The information includes the name, business address, license number, truck license number and date of registry of each dealer.

This bound volume documents the names of the pharmacists and morticians licensed to pursue their professional activities in Baldwin County. Information included consists of: (1) the name of each registrant, (2) their profession, (3) the date of registration, (4) the signatures of their peers who approved of the license, and (5) their license number. This volume is also included in Unit 7, 1879 - 1882, of RG 105-10-35.

This record consists of four loose-leaf lists of men. Some are listed under the phrase "In Memory". This list is probably composed of the names of the men who served in World War II from Baldwin County.

These volumes document the estate sales of deceased persons in Baldwin County. Information found in them includes: (1) name of owner; (2) a list of property sold; (3) the name of the purchaser; (4) the price paid for each item, and (5) the date transaction occurred.

Subpoena dockets document civil and criminal complaints appearing before the court and the judgement resulting from such complaints. The dockets comprising this series include only civil cases. Information included consists of: (1) date and term of court; (2) names of litigants, and (3) judgements rendered.

Writ dockets contain legal orders issued by the court commanding a person to whom it is directed to perform or refrain from performing a specified act. The volumes in this series document the issuance of these orders and other additional information including: (1) the names of the plaintiffs and defendants; (2) the term of court in which case was introduced; (3) the issue involved in case, and (4) judgement rendered.

Issue dockets are often called claim dockets. They contain information which documents the claim of individuals against the property of other litigants. Information in these volumes includes: (1) the term of court; (2) case number; (3) names of litigants, and (4) judgement rendered.

Primarily lists of notes payable, possibly to the Bank of Darien, McIntosh County, Georgia, citing names of customers and amounts. Also included are "Bills of Exchange," possibly recording loans through other banks in Milledgeville, Savannah, Marion, and Sterling, Georgia, and New York, citing names and amounts, 2 pages.

This series consists of Annual Reports of the Building and Loan Associations by the Commissioner. Each report includes the following information for each Building and Loan Association: name of the association; date association began business; names of officers and directors; assets, itemized by type; liabilities, itemized by type; number of members; number of outstanding loans; and dividend rate paid and whether by paid up shares or mortgage pledged shares.

This series consists of records uncovered during the Shelf Inventory Project of 1992-93. This series consists of original unbound arranged and unarranged probated wills and records pertaining to wills of Banks County. No effort has been made to compare the completeness of this series with the recorded copies in the Will Record volumes.

This book contains mostly records of warrants granted but there are some entries relating to other actions of the County Commissioners.
