Sharp family papers

Letters by Lemuel Sharp, who served in Cobb's Legion, and by Oliver S. Morton, a cousin, to Lemuel's sisters. The Civil War letters cover 1861 - 1862 during the Peninsula Campaign and describe a naval battle between the Merrimac, the Minnesota, and other ships. Shepard Ezekiel Perkins Diary

In his diary, Perkins writes about agriculture on his farm, livestock, and the weather. The record tells of daily events such as a visit from his daughter, Babe (Augusta P. Lake); loading melons for his son-in-law, Abe Chance; and the worsening illness of his youngest sister, Susan, in Augusta, who died the day after the diary ends.
